We advised Cementos Avellaneda S.A. on the development of its renewable Energy megaproject “Parque Solar La Calera”
Cementos Avellaneda S.A. (“Cementos Avellaneda”) inaugurated the La Calera Photovoltaic Solar Park, located 72 km from the capital of the Province of San Luis, Argentina, with an installed capacity of 22 MW. The park will supply electricity to Cementos Avellaneda’s industrial plant and, thanks to its potential, will prevent the annual emission of 22,600 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. The project required an investment of US$25 million.
This project was developed in line with Cementos Avellaneda’s sustainability objectives and its decarbonization plan, as it will supply 55% of its plant’s electricity demand with renewable energy generated on its own premises. In this way, the company is a pioneer in Argentina in terms of sustainability projects and the use of renewable electricity generated on a large scale and is the first cement company in Argentina to achieve self-generation through an energy supply contract with a third party.
Cementos Avellaneda is an Argentine company that has been manufacturing and marketing construction materials for more than 100 years.
