We advised on two major international bond issuances in Argentina’s energy sector:
🔹 YPF’s $800M 2031 Bond issuance – awarded Quasi-Sovereign High-Yield Bond of the Year
We advised YPF S.A. in its $800 million bond issuance, a key milestone for Argentina’s financial markets. This was the largest corporate bond issuance since 2016 and the first new-money transaction in the country since April 2021, reopening international markets for Argentine corporate issuers. Our Banking & Capital Markets team, led by partner José Bazán alongside Leandro E. Belusci, Facundo Suárez Loñ, and Teo Panich, acted as legal counsel to YPF, providing key advice on structuring and execution. The proceeds will be used to refinance debt and fund YPF’s investment plan, focusing on Vaca Muerta and the expansion of unconventional hydrocarbon production.
🔹 TGS’s $490M bond issuance and tender offer – recognized as Corporate High-Yield Bond of the Year
We acted as legal counsel to the Initial Purchasers and Local Placement Agents in Transportadora de Gas del Sur’s (“TGS”) $490M bond issuance and tender offer for its 2025 notes. The team, led by partners Alejandro Perelsztein and Estanislao Olmos, alongside associates Leandro E. Belusci, SofĂa Maselli, and LucĂa De Luca, advised on this key transaction, which allowed TGS to refinance its debt and strengthen its financial position.
Both transactions were key to refinancing debt, strengthening YPF and TGS’s financial positions, and marking a milestone in reopening international markets for Argentine corporate issuers.
