We advised Banco Santander on the acquisition of 50% of Nera from Grupo Financiero Galicia

New Deal - March 11, 2025

On February 25, 2025, Banco Santander, S.A. entered into an investment framework agreement to acquire 50% of Nera, Grupo Galicia’s digital payments and financing platform for the agricultural sector. The transaction covers Nera’s activities in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay and aims to broaden its scope and strengthen the technological development of financial tools for agribusiness.

This agreement represents a significant step in the collaboration between two of Argentina’s leading financial institutions. In this way, both entities position themselves as key players in the digitalization of the agricultural sector in the country, with regional projection.

Nera is a platform that connects producers and suppliers with financial entities and virtual wallets, simplifying the purchase of inputs and livestock. Through multiple financing options, producers can access credits in pesos, dollars or grains with customized conditions. Since its launch in 2023, more than 6,500 producers have been financed through the platform; a total of 28,000 transactions have been made.
